Noe Felipe's Story

19 May 2025

We’d love to share a powerful testimony with you from Potter's House in Guatemala. Their education programme provides children (supported by WorldShare through ChildAid) with an after-school coaching programme to supplement the very basic education in the local schools. It is through this scheme in the Western Highlands that a young boy called Noe Felipe's life was transformed. Read on to discover his story...

From Struggles to Transformation

Noe Felipe is the seventh of nine siblings - seven boys and two girls. His mother Cristina did not have the opportunity to go to school, and his father Felipe was only able to complete third grade. Cristina is a housewife and Felipe works as a farmer. Together, they have worked hard to raise a united and loving family.

Noe joined the Education Programme at Potter’s House in 2022 (pictured). From the beginning, he faced several challenges in his academic performance, particularly in reading and writing. He found is difficult to adapt to the programme - he had a short attention span and struggled to keep up with his classmates. He didn’t participate in workshops or follow instructions, and his overall academic performance was low.

Potter's House discovered that at home, Noe lacked academic support - his mother, unable to read or write, couldn't assist him with homework, and he had to wait for his older siblings to help. In response, personalised work plans were created to support his growth and improve his performance. Thanks to God, last year Noe showed noticeable improvement!

His progress in reading and writing became evident. He also began to engage more in Potter's House workshops - now actively participating and keeping up with his classmates. His mother has also shown greater involvement and dedication. Though she still cannot read or write, she makes an effort every day to give her children the best she can.

The emotional intelligence workshops at Potter's House have also helped Noe significantly. He used to avoid interacting with others and struggled to express his emotions, ideas or thoughts. Today, they see a different Noe - he can now share his personal opinions and feelings with confidence. His growth has been remarkable.

Please praise God with us for the incredible work of Potter's House in supporting sponsored children like Noe. They shared the following message with us:

"Through your support and God’s divine intervention, we are witnessing the transformation of many children. Thank you for being part of our journey!"
