Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
WorldShare connects individuals and churches in the UK with locally led churches and Christian ministries, working with some of least-resourced people of the world, to support their God-given vision to see lives transformed through the hope of the Gospel.
We are registered in England and Wales as WorldShare, Charity No 803575, Company No 2498199. Our registered address is Armstrong House, First Avenue, Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster, DN9 3GA.
2. What data do we hold
WorldShare only holds data which, as far as we can ascertain, is accurate and up-to-date and which is required of us by law or necessary to process your donation or contact you in the manner that you have requested.
We only collect data that is given to us directly and will not share any of your data with any third parties for marketing purposes. We will not sell your details to anybody else, nor do we buy data from third parties or obtain personal data from the public domain.
We only collect data from you for specific purposes. Once that purpose has finished, we won’t hold on to the data for longer than necessary.
3. Lawful basis for processing your personal data
Personal information
Data protection law requires us to identify the lawful basis under which we collect and use your personal information. Depending on why we process your data one, or sometimes more than one of the following bases may be relevant.
- Legitimate Interest - processing where we consider it is in the legitimate interest of WorldShare to process your data. We will always balance any potential impact on you and your rights against the identified legitimate interests.
- Consent – where you have given your consent for WorldShare to use your personal data for a particular purpose.
- Legal obligation – where the processing of personal data is required to ensure compliance with a legal obligation.
- Contract - where the processing of personal data is required to meet our contractual obligations.
- Vital Interest – in very rare cases we may process personal data where it is in your vital interest, such as a medical emergency.
Special Category Data
Where you provide us with sensitive personal data, such as where you worship, we will process this using one of the following permitted criteria:
- with your explicit consent (e. you make clear to us that you are happy for us to hold this information)
- where you manifestly make this information publicly available – such as on a church website; or
- where you have regular contact with us in connection to your religion or place of worship.
We will hold your data securely and only those who need to will be able to see or use this information.
For organisations such as churches or NGOs, we may contact you where we have a legitimate interest – i.e. where we believe it is reasonable to do so. Again, we will only do so after carefully considering how it might affect you and the potential benefits of contacting your organisation.
Religious beliefs
As a Christian charity, we may process personal data relating to where you worship, or what role you play in a church. We will only do this where you tell us you are happy for us to use this information, or where you choose to make this public (eg. on your church website). We will never disclose this information about you outside WorldShare without your consent.
4. How we use your information
Using your information for marketing
Marketing information may include information about different projects and appeals that we are running, information about our ministry partners and other work that we do.
We may send you communications about our news, activities and appeals by post or phone unless you have previously told us that you do not want to be contacted in this way. We rely on legitimate interest for this processing as we believe WorldShare has a legitimate interest in promoting the charity.
We will send marketing information by text or email if you have consented to receive information this way. You can add, amend, or remove your marketing preferences at any time by:
- clicking the unsubscribe option at the bottom of all marketing emails
- visiting WorldShare’s contact page
- calling our office team on weekdays, 9am–5pm on 01302 775209.
If you ask us to stop sending marketing information, we will update your record and do so as quickly as we can but please note that occasionally you may receive further mailings that were already in progress.
5. How long we keep your data
We take the principles of data minimisation and removal seriously and have internal policies in place to ensure that we only ever ask for the minimum amount of data for the associated purpose and delete that data promptly once it is no longer required.

Please note that relying on some of these rights, such as the right to deleting your data, will make it impossible for us to continue to deliver some services to you. However, where possible we will always try to allow the maximum access to your rights while continuing to deliver as many services to you as possible.
7. How do we keep your data safe?
WorldShare is committed to keeping your personal data safe by only using secure, protected and encrypted solutions.
All staff and, where applicable, volunteers are fully briefed on WorldShare’s data protection policies and procedures relevant to their role. Staff will only have access to data that they need to be able to carry out their duties. Any data that is no longer required, will be destroyed.
8. Modifications
We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time and will publish the most current version on our website.
8. Reviewing and amending
This policy was revised and approved in January 2024, following a full review of our data protection policies, in line with UK-GDPR. The policies will be reviewed by the Trustees a minimum of once every three years.
