Safeguarding Policy

(Safety of Children and Vulnerable Adults)

The vision of WorldShare is to value all people as created in God’s image and loved by him. We value social and spiritual transformation of communities because we believe that each person is a whole being.

This vision includes caring for and showing God’s love to the vulnerable.

Proverbs 31:8-9

Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Values

We value all people as created in God’s image and loved by him. We value social and spiritual transformation because we believe that each person is a whole being. Children are vulnerable and therefore require special consideration, a trusted environment and safeguarding to prevent them from being harmed. We will recognise any form of harm, whether physical, emotional or sexual. Harm may be intentional or unintentional, may come from a parent or family member

We believe, under God, that we have a responsibility as an organisation to care for children and vulnerable adults under our and our ministry partner’s care and protect them from harm.

Intent

The intention of this policy is to reduce the risk of harm (& ensure a safe culture) for children and vulnerable adults under the care of WorldShare, its ministry partners and their respective staff and workers.

To achieve this, WorldShare will implement the following: -

  • Prevention procedures which include safe recruitment, awareness training, worker supervision, and a code of conduct to provide clear expectations of WorldShare staff
  • Response procedures including guidelines for reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns, disclosures or allegations, for all staff and workers.

If you have any concerns about the well-being of a child or vulnerable adult, or a situation which you feel increases the risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult, please contact one of WorldShare’s safeguarding advocates.
