Rejoicing, but Much Still to Do
We Rejoice with Those Who Rejoice but There Is Still So Much to Do

There has been much to celebrate over the last few days regarding the pace of change in Gaza. Not only a ceasefire, the withdrawal of troops and the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, but also the opening of routes for much-needed aid.
“We hope this peace deal will continue to move forward and be fully implemented. People are watching the situation closely.”
Yet despite the headlines and congratulatory backslapping, there is still great need on the ground and much to be done. Fighting is still taking place as Hamas seeks to regain full control of the territory over armed gangs. Hospitals remain overwhelmed.
Despite the fact that aid lorries are entering Gaza, food insecurity is still severe as much is still being looted. This will only cease when there is enough provision for everyone. At this point in time, the UN is struggling to distribute aid to many who are most in need.
We received this update from Christian Mission to Gaza this morning:
“Regarding the Christian community, most people are still sheltering in the churches. Around 10–15% have returned to their homes, though many have no home to go back to.
Some trucks from merchants have also arrived, bringing goods for sale in the markets. Prices have gone down a bit, which is a good sign.
Many in the Christian community are hoping to leave once the border opens. Some families already have visas to places like Australia and Canada.”
Please continue to pray for Gaza;
- For the ceasefire to hold and for those who will be engaged in negotiating the next stages of the peace process
- For stability to return to the territory and that fighting will be brought to a permanent end
- For the rebuilding of homes and lives
- For children to be able to return to education and normality
- For CMG as they seek to provide a further 6,000 hot meals this month
- For strength and protection for Pastor Hanna and the CMG team as they serve in these uncertain days
WorldShare continues to stand with Christian Mission to Gaza as they serve the Christian community and others in Gaza both now and during the transition from conflict to peace. We pray that you will continue to stand with us both prayerfully and financially as the region stabilises, enabling the rebuilding of communities that have been destroyed.
