A season of baptism and new faith

Across North Macedonia, ECNM’s churches have been celebrating as people come to faith, return to God and choose to be baptised. Each person has their own story, but Dragi’s journey shows that it is never too late to return.
Returning to faith after 20 years
Dragi first became a Christian more than 20 years ago. He faced struggles in his life, however, which drew him away from Jesus, until he stopped attending church and subsequently remained away for many years.
Dragi's circumstances are still far from easy. He has diabetes and is living with paralysis in his right leg, but he is placing his life and hope, once more, fully into the hands of his Saviour. The church continues to pray for both his physical health and his growing relationship with God.
Like many churches in North Macedonia, the church in Gevgelija does not have its own baptismal pool, so baptisms often take place outdoors during the warmer summer months. For Dragi, being baptised was a very important expression of his renewed faith with his church family there to pray for and support him.
While Dragi has returned to faith after many years, another couple baptised this summer are at the beginning of their journey.
Beginning a new life together
In July, a husband and wife were baptised through the church in Shtip, and their whole family, including their two young children, has now become part of the church community.
The husband had previously struggled with drug addiction. Since putting his faith in Christ, he has stopped using drugs, methadone and other tablets, and has also given up smoking. His wife has been a great source of encouragement as they seek to build a new life together.
A season of baptisms across ECNM
Seven new believers were baptised through the church in Veles, gathering beside a river near the Royal Rangers centre. Afterwards, the churches from Veles and Gevgelija came together for a shared service.
At EC Skopje, Pastor Stojan had been holding discipleship meetings to help new Christians learn more about baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Four people decided that they wanted to be baptised. Two were baptised in a nearby river, while the other two chose to wait until August so that close family members could join them.
EC Soulcraft in Skopje also celebrated as two women and one man publicly expressed their faith in Christ through baptism.
More baptisms are expected in the coming weeks, with churches in Kavadarci, Bitola and Skopje among those preparing to hold baptism services at the end of August or beginning of September.
Supporting people on their journey of faith
Whether someone is exploring faith for the first time, returning after years away or learning how to follow Jesus in everyday life, the support of a local church can make an important difference.
Baptism is a joyful and significant step, but the journey does not end there. New believers need teaching, prayer and encouragement as they grow in their faith. Christians who have followed Jesus for many years can also face difficult seasons and need others to walk alongside them.
Through Alpha courses, discipleship groups, Bible teaching, church services and personal encouragement, ECNM’s churches are supporting people at every stage of their journey with Jesus.
Please pray for those who have recently been baptised across North Macedonia and for those preparing to take this step. Pray that their faith will continue to grow and that they will know the encouragement of their local churches.
