“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6)

As we approach Christmas, when we remember the birth of our Saviour, we are reminded of the mission of WorldShare, inspired by the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). In this appeal, we are focusing on the unreached peoples of Macedonia and Albania and ask you to join with us in prayer for these nations. Our partners on the ground (the Evangelical Church in Macedonia and Medical Ambassadors Foundation in Albania) are giving of themselves daily – sowing, watering and nurturing seeds of faith – sharing the Gospel, bringing hope and transforming communities in these unreached parts of the world.

Growth of the Gospel in Macedonia

We praise God for the amazing growth that WorldShare partners, the Evangelical Church in Macedonia, have seen over the past few years in this financially and spiritually poor country.

From a parent church in the capital city of Skopje, a network of 36 churches and humanitarian projects are extending throughout Macedonia, reaching the unreached with the message of the Gospel. Please pray for Mircho Andreev and his team as they labour to realise their vision for a further 100 new churches.

Emil & Vesna Puzderlievi lead the new church in Struga which, thanks to the generosity of WorldShare supporters, has secured its own building and regularly sees 25 people meeting together to worship.

Over the summer, Emil had the privilege of baptising new believers at Lake Ohrid and last month a large outreach event took place in Struga, bringing Macedonians & Albanians together to hear the Gospel. Please pray that Emil & Vesna’s passion to see people brought into the church from across traditional and cultural divisions will bear fruit as they demonstrate God’s love and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In Shutka (the Roma municipality in the capital Skopje) a new ministry among Roma children has begun, with 200 children attending the opening of the new AGAPE centre back in September! Please pray that through the work of this centre, outreach into the Roma community will grow and many will come to know Jesus as Lord & Saviour as they receive education and training.

Sowing seeds of hope in Albania

WorldShare’s partner, the Medical Ambassadors Foundation, use an effective development process called Community Health Evangelism (CHE) to equip Albanians to be independent workers and evangelists in their own communities.

Patriot & Keli Hoxhaj lead the work with Shelly Zadina which focuses on five villages that are predominantly Muslim communities and they have already planted churches in four of the villages they are serving. Please pray for continued growth in both the number and discipleship of believers and an increasing ability for others to take over leadership of the churches and programmes in each of the villages.

Over the summer, three vacation bible schools welcomed almost 300 children, the annual church picnic at the beautiful lake in Pogradec included six baptisms and over 40 children and teens were able to attend the bible camps in Erseke. At these camps they learned about Jonah, met other children and youth from around Albania and took part in a range of activities including climbing, archery, canoeing and crafts. All this was made possible due to the generosity of WorldShare supporters, so thank you! Please pray that seeds planted at these events will grow as we move from 2019 into 2020 .

The new church buildings in Vashtemi and Vlocisht have been a real blessing, giving the churches a sense of place and identity. Please pray that Patriot and his team will have the financial resources they need to complete them.
