Following yet more devastating flooding in Myanmar, more than 26,000 have been affected, including our ministry partner Word of Hope.
According to Myanmar’s Department of Disaster Management, the wider context is that more than 2000 people have been displaced and some schools have been temporarily closed. Approximately 26,400 people have been affected as of August 5th and 6th, 2019.
The severe weather has also badly affected the children of the Word of Hope orphanage with their compound being very badly flooded and the children left living with the dirty water on the floor, even during meals, and vulnerable to disease.
WorldShare are now working urgently with Word of Hope to alleviate the immediate aftermath of the flooding. Communications with the team in Myanmar are hampered but we are in touch daily so we will provide further updates in due course.
