Christmas Celebrations

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

Christmas is a wonderful occasion, where Christians around the world celebrate the coming of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Here at WorldShare, it has been a joy to receive photos and praise points from some of our ministry partners, sharing with us how they marked this special time of year. We hope you are as encouraged as we have been by seeing all they got up to.

1. HEAL Africa in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Our ministry partner in DR Congo, HEAL Africa, had much to give thanks to God for in December: 17 disciples of Christ (photo 1) were baptised on Christmas Eve! Each of the brothers and sisters were presented with a new Bible (photo 2). Following the baptism, more than 600 people joined together to share communion in the hospital’s church building, including staff members and those from the local community (photo 3). Please join with us in giving thanks to God for the 17 new Christians, and pray that they would continue to closely follow their loving Father, under the discipleship of HEAL Africa.

2. Word of Hope in Myanmar

In Myanmar, Word of Hope was overjoyed to be able to buy Christmas gifts for the children at their orphanage. Using money kindly donated by WorldShare supporters, each child was bought a new pair of jeans and a shirt or a dress (as pictured below). Ministry leader Pastor Pau said:

They are very happy and are praying for you all.

Praise God for using the generosity of WorldShare supporters to bless these children, and pray that they would all know they are loved and valued.

3. Beginning of Life in Moldova

Our ministry partner in Moldova, Beginning of Life, ran many Christmas events in December, including one for single mothers and their children, one for older children from the local neighbourhood and one for youth (as pictured below). Ministry leader Serghei Mihailov said that the events brought the “light of God’s love into many families which suffer from brokenness and hopelessness.” Please pray for Beginning of Life in this new year, that God would give them continued wisdom and compassion as they support the vulnerable, both practically and spiritually.

4. JKPS in India

JKPS, who serve communities in India, is so thankful to God that their Christmas events across their various ministries (some pictured below) were all a huge success. Following Covid-19 safety protocols, everyone kept safe and enjoyed celebrating together. The team are also grateful that they were able to give out Christmas gifts to children in the local community, sponsored children and the young people supported by the Mahima Homes they run. As we begin 2022, JKPS would like us to pray for God’s protection from Covid-19 as they continue to reach out to needy communities.
