Macedonia: Easter Fun
In Macedonia, this Easter our partner ministry put on “The Big Smile”, a fun activity day for local children.
For most people in Macedonia, Easter is just a public holiday, but for the children attending our activities, it is a hope for a better tomorrow, for happiness, love and security.
The children understand it’s not just a regular holiday, but a holiday of promise being fulfilled and that through God’s love, they have salvation and eternal life.
The event started with games and songs, followed by sandwiches and juice. Later the children heard the message of the Easter story, followed by prayer. The day finished with more fun games and songs.
The event was a beautiful and joyful celebration of Christ’s resurrection. A highlight of the day was when one of the older boys, Remzi shared all his sweets with the other children. Remzi is a child of divorced parents that don’t care for him and has had to take care of himself from an early age, so it’s very difficult for him to share anything.
Events like this run by our partners are a great way to teach Macedonian children about Jesus and how much they are loved. These activities are all part of building self-worth for young people in Macedonia with the long term aim of decreasing the number of human trafficking victims.
