Lebanon Explosion Relief Update

FEAL explosion relief 1

On 4th August, two explosions occurred in the port city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, causing at least 200 deaths and more than 7,000 injuries. The news also reported that over 300,000 Lebanese affected by the blast became homeless overnight. Lebanon was already struggling with an unprecedented economic crisis before the disaster, with families pushed into poverty and hunger.

As soon as we had sufficient information from our ministry partner, the Free Evangelical Association of Lebanon (FEAL), WorldShare launched a Lebanon Explosion Relief Appeal. We asked for your prayers and also for your donations, which would help to provide emergency relief such as water, food, and medical care to those in need.

We were overwhelmed by your response! So far, you have raised over £22,000 for the ongoing relief efforts of FEAL. Thank you!

FEAL’s Relief Efforts

We are delighted to share with you some amazing photos showing what has been happening since the explosion just over a month ago. FEAL, along with a team of volunteers, have been busy helping communities in a variety of ways: they have been clearing rubble, repairing structures, securing unsafe buildings, administering medical care, praying with those affected and providing food parcels to workers and others in need. We think these photos are brilliant, and showcase the compassion, perseverance and dedication of FEAL. They truly are a light in the darkness, reflecting God’s love and comfort to those who need it most.

Please pray

  • Praise God for the generosity of WorldShare’s supporters in praying for and donating to our Lebanon Explosion Relief Appeal.
  • Thank God for the compassionate relief efforts of the Free Evangelical Association of Lebanon and for the many ways they have been able to come alongside people, both practically and spiritually, over this past month.
  • Ask God to comfort all those who are still struggling in the aftermath of the explosion - for those who are grieving the lives of loved ones and those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
